TWO players have committed their futures to Bridgwater United FC.

Owner Ian Davis has locked down goalkeeper Luke Purnell and captain Mark Armstrong for the 2024/25 season.

Speaking about Purnell, Davis said: "We would like to confirm that without a doubt, the best goalkeeper in the Toolstation leagues, Luke Purnell, has pledged himself to Bridgy for the coming season.

"This is fantastic news as he is a born leader from the back out.

"As the owner, this is great news, as fans, I hope you all feel the same."

In regard to Armstrong, Davies stated: "People come and go, that is the nature of football.

"However, some people stay and are loyal to the cause, so we are over the moon to let the fans know our very own captain Marvel Mark 'Armo' Armstrong has pledged another season to the club and fans.

"A true believer in Bridgy, Armo will steer us to another exciting season and assault on promotion."

The club's 2023/24 season concluded with defeat in the Toolstation Western League play-off semi-final against Clevedon Town.

The team is set for another season in the division led by manager Andy Llewellyn, alongside the  likes of Shepton Mallet, Nailsea & Tickenham, Street and Wellington.
