DESPITE the cost-of-living crisis, several properties have been sold for over seven figures in Bridgwater this year.
From a historic former school boarding house to a million-pound mansion, here are Bridgwater's priciest properties of 2023, according to the Land Registry.
The most expensive properties sold in Bridgwater in 2023
1. Etonhurst, 7 Bath Road, Ashcott (£2,572,000)
Sold on April 28 2023, Etonhurst, an ex-Millfield boarding house, was bought by The Levels School for over two and a half million pounds.
The school specialises in helping children who have been adversely affected by their dyslexia and other difficulties.
It opened in 2021 following the closure of Shapwick School after 45 years.
2. Britannia Lanes of Somerset (£2,100,000)
Warwickshire-based self-storage company Squab Storage purchased the Britannia Lanes unit on July 5 2023.
They paid over £2 million for the unit itself, which is currently nearing the end of a £1.5 million restoration project.
At the time of purchase, Squab Storage expected the work to be complete at the end of 2023.
3. 15 Pedwell Hill, Bridgwater (£1,423,000)
This pricey five-bedroom mansion was sold on July 20 2024 for almost one and a half million pounds.
According to TheMoveMarket, the Ashcott property is one of the largest properties in the area, and ranked as the most expensive property in TA7 9BD, with a valuation of £1,403,000.
4. Starslands Farm, Hedging Lane, Bridgwater
In fourth place, Starslands Farm sold for £1,200,000 on July 7 2023.
5. Waggon Barn, Perry Green, Bridgwater
Following closely in fifth, Waggon Barn was sold for £970,000 on September 11.
6. Grafton Lodge, Broadmead Lane, Bridgwater
The former Grafton Lodge property owners raked in £915,000 for its sale on February 13 2023.
7. Dial House, Manor Road, Bridgwater (£900,000), July 28.
The seventh property to be sold in Bridgwater for £900,000 or above, Dial House was sold for just shy of a million pounds on July 28 2023.
8. Cokerhurst Barn, Wembdon Hill, Bridgwater
The cheapest on the list, but far from a budget option, Cokerhurst Barn cost its new owner £840,000 on August 22 2023.
