A SOMERSET school has completed the purchase of the historic former boarding house it had leased since it opened two years ago.

The Levels School has finalised the purchase of Etonhurst, an ex-Millfield School building in Ashcott, near Bridgwater.

The school specialises in helping children who have been adversely affected by their dyslexia and other difficulties.

It opened in 2021 following the closure of Shapwick School after 45 years.

Bradley Middleton, who worked at Shapwick, decided to call on ex-staff members and ask for help creating a new school based at Etonhurst.

Mr Middleton said: "I've gifted all teachers shares in the school. So it is our school, not just mine - it is a team effort.

"We are proud to announce that we have today completed on our purchase of Etonhurst.

"Since we opened in January 2021, we have been tirelessly working to secure our school premises in order to secure the future of the school, and we have done it.

"We would like to thank everyone who has supported the school, be it directly or indirectly, without whom none of this could have been achieved.

"A special thanks also goes out to all those that have directly supported us with the acquisition of school premises - you know who you are! Watch this space as we continue to develop our provision.

"A big thank you to Gian, who is the finance director and co-founder of The Levels School.

"Gian has worked known stop since day one to secure the property and 100% without Gian we would not be where we are today."
