Petherton travelled with the intention of playing a high tempo expansive game and for some periods they succeeded, writes Simon Freeman.

The game immediately took a twist as within 25 seconds the home side took the lead with a try after a well weighted kick through landed in the right place for a 5-0 score line.

Pethy, although stunned regained their composure and built up momentum with some strong drives from the forwards.

Sam Butler made solid contributions until the official penalised the home side and Harry Roberts slotted over a penalty.

Both teams continued to be totally committed and create opportunities by showing plenty of ambition. This was typified by Pethy with Hancock going in for his third try, Roberts converted.

The game became fractious with both teams annoying the official but Petherton continuing to hold the upper hand with a deserved try for Toby Harris whose contribution throughout was impressive (5-48) The home side's response was immediate and explosive with the number eight setting off on a 35-metre rampage to the try line for an excellent individual score.

The 63rd minute saw ultimately the final play of the game with Pethy being awarded a penalty try - but unfortunately player's discipline imploded and with the official deciding the game was being called off the kick was not allowed to be taken.
