BRIDGWATER & Albion head coach Kevin Innalls described Saturday’s derby victory over North Petherton as ‘a great day for the club’ after his side secured a 13th league win of the season in front of an estimated 1,500-strong crowd at College Way.

Albion came from behind to secure a 23-13 victory over their fierce rivals thanks to tries from James Martin and Chris Ashwin – and the head coach says his side now have ‘nothing to lose’ when they take on league leaders Cleve this weekend.

He said: “Saturday was a tough old encounter and, fair play to Pethy, they really had a good go at us – they knew we would be strong up front and they came out and targeted us there.

“It was a typical derby game, with plenty of mistakes and a huge crowd but we are pleased to get the win and it was a great day for the club.

“The tough games keep coming for us with Cleve this weekend, but we go into that game as underdogs so we’ve got nothing to lose.

“Hopefully, it stays dry and we can go there and have a good go at them.”

North Petherton captain Damian Griffin said his side could be proud of their performance and had ‘no regrets’ from the game.

He said: “It was a great game played in the right spirit.

“We played a lot of the rugby but couldn’t take the opportunities.

“Bridgy took their chances well and, even though it wasn't the result we wanted, I know we gave all we had.

“We came off the pitch with no regrets as we gave our all.

“Our forwards were magnificent, really proud of them, especially Lewis Phillips and Dan Frost, who are both young lads.”
