Regional League Three
Jupiter 48, Mavericks 41
JUPITER got back to winning ways with a seven-point victory over Mavericks on Sunday.
Both teams showed determination to take the lead but Jupiter outshone Mavericks defence, with patience and accurate feeding into Paige Davey (GS), who successfully converted these opportunities into points - Jupiter led 13-8.
The second quarter saw Mavericks rattled by Jupiter’s strength, which caused Mavericks to fight back and lose focus on the game.
Dangerous play from the away team caused Jupiter to rethink their game and play possession, enabling them to increase their lead even further, 23-16.
Changes in the centre court due to injury meant that Jupiter flow was interrupted, giving Mavericks the opportunity to close the gap to 34-33.
Baylea Charles continuously boosted the team’s confidence and communicated to all players to ensure Mavericks would not get the better of them.
Finishing as they started, Jupiter knew the last 15 would be make or break for their spot in the league table. Sammy Kemmish supported Paige in the circle, winning numerous rebounds and using tactical play to create space.
Mavericks could not keep up with the pace of the game and even with a tall shooter, failed to catch them up.
Joint players of the match were Baylea Charles and Sammy Kemmish.
