DIVISION 3 Lime Kiln pulled off the shock win of the week in the Bridgwater Town Ladies’ Skittles League thanks to a score of 68 from Tracey Perks, the highest ladies individual score for a few seasons on the Lime Kiln alley.

They defeated division leaders New Foresters A in a close match. Never more than seven pins in the game, the Riverside girls pulled on the last four hands 4+4+1+3 to win by five pins and their highest home score this season 332.

With the leaders losing, Sydenham Centre B moved to within four points of second place with a super home score of 418 to defeat Bridgwater Squib A by 82 thanks to 73 from Alison Modley and 64 by Vicky Modley, while Tracey Fursland hit 63 for the Fireworks.

West India House took their chance to go top with a convincing show of form by winning at the Blake Arms by 41 and are two points clear at the top of the table The top-of-the-table clash in Division 1 at the Blake Hall A saw the home side go seven up after two hands but the visitors, Castle Club A, were not giving up top spot easily.

They tied the third hand and pulled two on the fourth; the home side pulled one on the next hand only to lose five pins on the sixth as the Castle’s anchor woman, Alison Collard (64), hit an 18.

Now only one up, the home side’s last hand tied their worst of the night (46), leaving the visitors 48 to win. The first six players scored 40, leaving their star, Alison, to get eight to win and she duly obliged.

With the Blake Hall A losing, GWR Club A moved into second on their own, defeating fourth-placed Market A at home, pulling back a 13-pin deficit to win by four.

Crown Inn B moved away from the relegation area with a 53-pin away defeat of Market B, who are now one point behind their visitors but six ahead of second-bottom Sydenham Centre A, who lost at Cross Rifles A by 51.

Division 2 leaders British Flag A took on third-placed visitors Lion’s Club B on their Chilton Street alley and a close match it was.

Flag were 11 up after five, then the Lions pulled eight on the sixth to be three down. The home side hit 52 on their last hand, leaving the visitors 56 to win but they could only tie the home side last hand and lost the match by three.

Bunch of Grapes B stay two points adrift in second after beating The Flag’s B side by 27 on the St John Street alley.

Cross Rifles B’s win at the New Foresters B, pulling eight on the last hand to win means they are now eight points clear of second-bottom Commercial Inn A and should be safe from the drop.
