Jupiter 40, Poole 40

JUPITER were forced to settle for a draw against Poole on Sunday in an entertaining clash.

Poole led the first quarter by two but Jupiter went back on court fighting and despite fantastic shooting from GS Paige Davey and GA Becky Palmer, Poole continued to pull away, ending the second quarter seven goals ahead.

Jupiter reduced the deficit to just two by the end of the third quarter – and in the final quarter Jupiter knew they had to close the gap to stay top of the table.

WA Amy Shaw kept the team positive and made some impressive drives to ensure the ball got to Jupiter’s attack.

Jupiter’s hard work paid off and they finished the game with a draw.

Joint Players of the Match were Amy Shaw and Paige Davey.

Saturn 42, Tomahawks 37

SATURN registered their first win of 2015 against Tomahawks of Paulton.

The teams started the game very evenly matched with Tomahawks taking a slight lead (20-19) at half-time.

Saturn grew into the game and were ahead by two goals (32-30) going into the final quarter thanks to good attacking play from Karis at WA.

She worked hard to switch the play from defence to attack and fed the circle well.

Player of the Match Emma Reynolds (C) took a number of well-timed interceptions which saw Saturn win the game 42-37.

Neptune 16, Harlequins 24

NEPTUNE made a slow start against Harlequins and soon found themselves trailing 3-8.

Neptune increased their pace in the second half with Sally Haysham (GD) showing sound defensive play and making timely interceptions and Lucy Brown (GK) assisting but this was not enough to allow Neptune to take the lead.

With several breaks in the match and Neptune having to reposition players because of injuries Harlequins remained ahead throughout.

Player of the Match was Chris Durant.

Venus 34, Minstrels 29

AT the end of the first quarter Venus looked as if they were heading for a heavy defeat as they trailed Minstrels 2-11 despite numerous interceptions by Hollie Cornish (WD).

In the second quarter Venus upped their game with Hannah Setter (GA) and Darcie Dunn (GS) finding their range and putting up outstanding shots. But at half-time Venus still trailed by nine goals.

In the final quarter Emily Rossiter (WD) Saskia Middleton (GD) and Brown kept Minstrels to just three goals, and Trout and Shorthouse combined well to drive the ball into Venus’ attacking circle.

Minstrels turned around what seemed to be an unassailable lead in the first-half to clinch the game 34-29.

Player of the Match Olivia Shorthouse.

Mars 27, Spears 24

THE first quarter started brilliantly with Mars being much more awake than their opponents.

The new centre court trio of Laura Gibson (WA), Hannah White (C) and Victoria Saban (WD) gelled instantly and managed to find impeccable shooters Sophie Cornish (GS) and Cerys Ethridge (GA) to storm into an 8-1 lead.

The next two quarters saw Mars keep their lead with Spears closing in slightly.

The game was fast-paced with lots of vital turnovers, particularly from all the Mars team.

Player of the Match was Hannah White.
