ASHCOTT and Shapwick II fell to a 126-run defeat against Bristol on Saturday.
The home side’s batsmen struggled initially but a fifth wicket partnership of 104 between Ralph Hardwick (60) and Sheridan Leech (64 not out) helped them recover from 51-4 to a useful total of 220-7 at the end of their 45 overs.
In reply, Ashcott got off to a disastrous start, losing three wickets before ten runs were on the board.
A solid fourth wicket partnership between Sam Patey (19) and Lee Edmunds (48) steadied the ship.
But when that was ended, wickets again began to tumble quickly.
