ASHCOTT and Shapwick claimed their third successive league victory with a ten-wicket demolition of Ilminster on Saturday.

James Hayman took 4-34 order to help dismiss the visitors for 131 inside 37 overs, before openers Cooper (69no) and Rudge (50no) cruised to victory with over 20 overs to spare.

Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Ilminster lost early wickets as Hayman and Coppell (1-17) accounted for the top three. Kraucamp (55) was the only player to put up any sort of resistance, but when the impressive Hayman had him caught behind, the innings began to collapse. Spinners Will Sobczak (3-19) and Nayan Karmakar (2-24) worked their way through the Ilminster middle-order, before Hayman returned to clean bowl the last two batsmen with consecutive deliveries to finish with 4-34 in the final Ilminster total of 131.

Cooper and Will Rudge were rarely troubled during their opening partnership for the home side with the former reaching his half century just before the drinks interval. He finished on 69 not out as Rudge brought up his own 50 with a straight drive for four to give the home side with more than 20 overs to spare.
