Premier Division
Middlezoy Rovers Ladies 4, Forest Green Rovers Ladies 2
MIDDLEZOY Rovers Ladies got back to winning ways and went top of the Premier Division table with a hard-fought 4-2 victory against Forest Green Rovers Ladies.
The hosts started well, but it was Forest Green who had the early chances, hitting the bar and then forcing Faye Edwards into a good save.
Zoy came back into it and took the lead after 30 minutes, when Rosie Williams sent Anusia Rourke through, to round the keeper and fire home.
The hosts kept up the intensity and were rewarded just before half time, when Rourke’s shot was parried to Rosie Williams, who made no mistake.
Forest Green got a goal back after 55 minutes, when Middlezoy failed to clear, but on 70 minutes Zoy made it 3-1.
A free-kick was initially cleared, but the keeper’s kick was charged down by Alexie Turner, who fired in her first Zoy goal.
Forest Green came back, though, and another failed clearance allowed them a second goal.
The game was evenly balanced but it was the home side who wrapped the game up on 85 minutes.
They were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out, and Georgia Coles’ low effort went through the wall and past the keeper without her reacting.
Middlezoy saw the rest of this enjoyable match out comfortably to secure the three points.
