South West Women’s Premier
Plymstock United Ladies 1, Bridgwater Town Ladies 2
TOWN played up the slope against the wind in the first half, and exchanges were fairly even as both side has trouble controlling the ball.
After ten minutes however, Town were caught square at the back which allowed a Plymstock forward to run on and slip the ball past Faye Edwards in the Town goal. This proved to be their only shot on target.
Town started then to get a grip in the match and created a few half chances before they drew level in the 25th minute.
A cross from the right found Emily Hale arriving late, and she hit the ball high into the net from a difficult angle at the back post.
Plymstock were reduced to ten players after a poor tackle on midfielder Hannah Brown and after a 30 minute delay, the match restarted with ten-a-side as Town had no substitute.
They continue to dominate but couldn't find the killer touch but were unlucky when they had the ball in the net, at the end of the first half, only to see it struck off for handball.
It took until the 70th minute for Town to grab the winner.
Anusia Rourke latched onto a through pass and with two defenders closing her down and the keeper coming out, she managed to bundled the ball over the line.
This was an excellent three points for the Ladies to ease their relegation worries in the Premier Division.
This weekend the Ladies travel to Frome Town for another foot-of-the- table battle.
