Bridgwater Town 1, Odd Down 0

JACK Taylor's second-half strike was enough to secure all three points for Bridgwater Town at home to Odd Down on Tuesday night.

The hosts survived an early let-off when Josh White had to clear an effort off the line inside the first minute, and he was later booked at the end of a first half devoid of chances.

Odd Down started the brighter after the break and Town were indebted to returning goalkeeper Jake Viney, who tipped a long-range free-kick onto the crossbar on 48 minutes.

It was then Bridgy's turn to be frustrated by the woodwork as Taylor's shot cannoned off the bar following a goalmouth scramble.

The frontman was not to be denied shortly after the interval, however, heading home Jack Jenkins' cross to hand his side the advantage.

Taylor came close to doubling his tally with a shot that flashed just wide, and Odd Down were inches away from levelling it up in injury time only for their frontman to miss the target when well placed.

The victory takes Town onto 50 points and keeps them in sixth - this Saturday they are in Les Phillips Cup quarter-final action at home to Bitton.
