Calor League Division One South & West

Bridgwater Town 2, Wantage Town 0

TWO second-half goals fired Bridgwater Town to their first league victory of 2015.

Ross McNab and Jack Welling struck at either end of the second-half to complete a comfortable afternoon for the Robins and a tenth league win of the season.

McNab went close to opening the scoring in just the third minute, shooting just wide from a tight angle – and on 19 minutes, O’Hare fired wide of the right-hand post when given the time and space to shoot.

McNab had another chance just before half-time, but his header was straight at the visitors’ goalkeeper.

Town continued to dominate after the interval and on 53 minutes took the lead courtesy of sweetly struck volley from McNab.

Wantage rarely threatened Ben Johns’ goal - only a 20-yard effort that drifted wide had the Robins’ keeper in the action.

Substitute Kyle Tooze almost doubled Town’s lead in the final 20 minutes, but failed to finish off two relatively clear cut opportunities.

James Byrne also went close in the final period – and the hosts did eventually double their lead in the foruth minute of added time, as Jack Welling fired home from three yards out to bag three points for Bridgwater.

Town: John, Grimshaw, Allward, Allan, Rudge, Byrne, Chamberlain, O’Hare (Welling 79), Knighton, McNab (Bushin 84), Griffiths (Tooze 69).
