BRIDGWATER Town manager Richard Fey believes his side's midweek fixture schedule combined with a dip in confidence, has contributed to their poor run of form.

The Robins are without a win in seven league games after a 3-1 defeat to Tiverton on Tuesday night (November 26) and Fey believes a run of 11 midweek games in 12 weeks has not helped their cause.

He said: "It's been difficult because after Shortwood we'll have played 13 midweek games in 14 and that's tough on players at this level. But I'm not making excuses, we've got to go to Yate this weekend and try and pick up three points.

"We're going through a bit of a dip in confidence because we're not winning and we're not scoring goals, but we've played a lot of the top sides and there's no disgrace in losing to teams like North Leigh, Tiverton, Cirencester and Mangotsfield - because I believe they will be the top four at the end of the season."

Fey's side found themselves 3-0 down to Tiverton at half-time and despite pulling a goal back through Robbins in the second half, were unable to rescue anything from the game.

"Tiverton were brillaint in the first half - they had a poor result on Saturday and their manager has obviousloy given them a kick up the backside and they've reacted.

"The way they passed the ball was fantastic and they've got football league experience all over the pitch.

"In the second half we played really well and got a goal back, but we couldn't get a second to really put them under pressure. Our second half performance was our best half of football against the better sides we have played."

"But at the end of the day, we are still tenth in the league and we've got games in hand on a lot of teams."

Bridgwater Town travel to Yate Town on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
