Controversy during Bridgwater Town's 4-0 weekend defeat

EvoStik Division One S&W
Bridgwater Town 0, Swindon Supermarine 4
CONTROVERSY marred Bridgwater Town’s home clash with Swindon Supermarine on Saturday – a game which saw The Robins fall to defeat.
After 16 minutes, keeper Luke Purnell went up for a high ball with Supermarine forward Ashley Edenborough and a Town defender but, after contact, Purnell fell to the ground.
The referee kept play going despite Purnell lying motionless on the ground and the visitors had shots twice cleared off the line before finally scoring through Josh Parsons – a goal which left Bridgwater players, staff and fans fuming.
It was a bitter pill to swallow for Town who lost their discipline to concede again five minutes later to trail 2-0 at half-time.
Town came out fighting in the second half and were unlucky not to pull a goal back when Jon Vance’s long range shot stung the palms of Kent Kaupennin in the Supermarine goal.
Skipper Chris McGrath also had his low, side-footed shot cleared off the line but the visitors rubbed salt into the Bridgwater Town wounds on 57 minutes with a third goal and a fourth minutes from time.
Bridgwater did have opportunities to score a consolation goal after Ross McNab latched on to Joe McClennan’s pinpoint cross but his shot rattled the woodwork. Dave Pearse sent a similar effort wide after some good work on the left by Craig Veal.
Town: Purnell, P.Veal, Thomas, Middleton, McGrath, Chamberlain (Mercieca 69), Fitzpatrick (C. Veal 69), McClennan, McNab, Pearse, Vance.
l TOWN Reserves lost 2-1 to St George Easton-in-Gordano on Saturday, despite taking the lead through Kenzie Farnham’s penalty after Michael Duffy was brought down in the box.
They travel to Shepton Mallet tonight (Tuesday) in the Premier Division Cup and are at home to Nailsea United in the league on Saturday.

Well Millie and the other 2, its you that choose the team. If theyt players are not performing - drop them. Too many hanger ons. Like I said above, you have a winning team on a Tuesday - why the f*** change it. Sorry for the ***, but its getting frustrating already. Some of the Saturday starters - should not be starting. Get it sorted before its too late.

It seems that for years that there has been a "click" at the club.
One poor "local" manager gets replaced by another one, and then a former Taunton manager comes in.
From what I hear this has gone down like a lead balloon with a lot of the players.
What's needed is a good manager and coach from outside this area, someone who comes in with new ideas and NO connection with the club.
A new man with no favourites,no blind loyalty to current players and someone who is keen to play good football.
The club needs a fresh feeling to it,something to get the fans excited again.

but saying that if it wasnt for westy we wouldnt have a side at least he got some taunton town B team players in !
but the bigger issues lie off the pitch after Drayer left and yes i thought he did a good job in the circumstances , avoiding relegation for two years , put a lots of good things into place had time for young players etc and had affinity for the club , what is left now ?? not much in that respect , the reserves are not allowed to train with the first team anymore , !!
The whole thing needs a total clear out , setter , davey, hurford ,uve done ure time and well done but the only thing youre gonna do is drag the club into the toolstation league , which is our level at the moment !! well on a plus weve beaten two slp sides this year , maclennan looks ok when hes interested and thats about it ...

There's also the u18 side who seem to have no sense of belonging to the football
How can a club be run like this, the 3 sides should be playing the same style of football. This brings a continuity to the playing style.
The young lads should feel they "belong" at the club and should all feel they have a chance to progress at the club.
This is clearly what is NOT happening at the moment.
That's why an outsider needs to be bought in, the whole club needs a shake up.
