Jupiter 40, Hovelands 36 

IT was the away side who started the brighter, taking a 14-7 lead. Jupiter showed tremendous strength and determination to fight back in the second quarter with player of the match, Lisa Durant (GK), Becky Cowley (GD), Imma Matcham (WD) and Baylea Charles (C) working hard to make vital interceptions.

Jupiter draw level at half time, 18-18 and with the momentum back and a tactical change in attack, Jupiter led 31-27 at the end of the third quarter. Important periods of possession, finished with accurate shooting by Sammy Kemmish (GS), helped Jupiter maintain their 100% home record with a 40-36 win.

Neptune 66, Parkfield 23

WITH three of their usual line up missing, Neptune apprehensively took to the court to play Parkfield of Galmington. However, the temporary team clicked from the first whistle and soon settled in to their game.

Pressurised defending from Paige Davey, Emma Downes and Zoe Ingram helped to build a 16-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. Additionally, superb attacking play throughout the whole game from Dawn Fothergill and Imogen Setter, allowed Lianne Fothergill and player of the match, Rachel Selway, to put up some fantastic shots. At the final whistle it was 66-23 to Neptune.

Venus 57, Kestrels 56

VENUS got off to a positive start and ended the first quarter with a 17-14 lead. A good defensive effort from Julie McClean, Coleen Bartlett and Mary King disrupted Kestrels ability to shoot, making the half time score 31-27 to Venus. There was strong centre court play from Chris Shaw and Courtney Steele who ensured the ball flowed accurately and swiftly up the court to keep Venus just ahead 42-40.

Accurate shooting from Paige Davey and Karis Holleron meant Venus just maintained their lead to win the match 57-56. Player of the match was Mary King (GK).

Mars 34, Queensway 48

MARS started the match strongly but trailed by two goals at the end of the first quarter. A change at centre to Courtney Steele strengthened the mid court and Elaine Bartlett (WA) and Kat Jay (WD) worked well with strong defending from Victoria Saban and Saskia Middleton with the half time score 22 - 20 to Queensway.

Cath Clarke came back on at centre but Queensway pulled away despite some accurate shooting from Kayleigh Haste and Sarah Perry. Joint players of the match were Victoria Saban and Saskia Middleton

Mercury 38, Newbarn 28 MERCURY kept their unbeaten record going and started well with good shooting from Morganne Dunne and Norah Lewis. Accurate passing by Lily Rowland (C) and Lucy Kyte (WA) kept the game well in line for a Mercury win.

However, at half time Galmington brought on a replacement shooter and Mercury's defence had to really work hard, but thanks to brilliant training sessions from coach Baylea Charles, Steph Riordan (WD), Vicky Saban (GK) and player of the match, Alisha Gardener (GD), were all up to the task. Mercury gained a well fought win, 38-28.
