Tone 21, Sydenham Sapphires 34

SAPPHIRES started well with Beth Fella and Carly Martin turning over the ball on Tone's centre passes to give Sapphires a 12-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Tone came out fighting in the second quarter, forcing errors from Sapphires whose lead slipped to 17-12 at half time but the team composed themselves in the third quarter and excellent movement from Katie Ball and Kelly Radford saw Sapphires extend the lead going into the final quarter.

The team continued to pull away with accurate shooting from Abi Ridler and Hannah Read combined with strong defence from Nic Hale and player of the match Fella.

Priory 26, Sydenham Garnets 20

THE home side took an early lead in this match 7-2 despite good defending from Nic Hale and Nicky Elkins. During the second quarter, Georgia Edmundson and Hannah Wallis produced excellent performances and in the third quarter duo Hale and Tanisha Birch settled quickly up front to bring the scores back to 12-18.

Sophie Butt and Lucie McDowell, both also playing in their first senior game, played well but Priory edged the win at the whistle. Players of the match were Steph Elkins, Emma-Jayne Brown and Georgia Edmundson.
