Western Counties  (North): Cinderford Seconds 59- 0 Bridgwater and Albion RFC

Bridgwater and Albion were  away to high flying Cinderford Seconds on Saturday and instead of travelling to the Forest of Dean found themselves playing at St Peters School in Gloucester, the National League One sides training ground.

For periods of the game the Albion side more than held their own, but the Cinderord backs moved the ball well and were always looking to attack, which at the end of the game saw them run out as the comfortable winners.

The visitors made a bright start and after five minutes gained a penalty which saw Jordan Buller make a strong run for the line but he was stopped short.

Cinderford eventually took the lead after 23 minutes when their centre Kibble went over for a try which Langbridge converted. The hosts doubled their lead soon after when Dickinson went over for a try that the trusty boot of Langbridge duly added the extras to.

On the half hour Cotton crashed over for an unconverted try and as the clock ticked towards half time Anderson went over to add another five points to the home tally.

Dan Lang and Alex Knight combined well together and created a chance  for the Bridgwater but sadly it didn’t result in any points.

Just before the interval Tom Croal left the field with a dislocated shoulder shortly after which the half time whistle went with the score 24-0.

Cinderford came out strongly after the break when stand off Poynton cut in well to score a try which Langbridge converted

The visitors may have been trailing but they remained in strong contention. Harrison Greenslade was involved with a move that saw the Albion deep inside the Cinderford  22 but this again came to nothing.

After 55 minutes Johnson made a strong run for Cinderford before offloading to Fissenden who went over for a try that Langbridge once again converted.

Bridgwater then enjoyed a good period of play and more than held their own, but were unable to score.

Cinderford then stepped up a gear and ran in three tries all of which were converted to make the score 59-0, before the referee ended the game a few minutes early due to an injury to a Cinderford player.

This coming weekend Bridgwater and Albion host Cleve at College Way, kick off 2.30pm.
