Western Counties (North): Chipping Sodbury 12- 54 Bridgwater and Albion

BRIDGWATER and Albion travelled to South Gloucestershire on Saturday afternoon to face Chipping Sodbury where against a game side they enjoyed a comfortable victory to notch up their third double of the campaign, writes Richard Walsh.

In perfect conditions Albion were in the ascendancy from the start when the hosts fumbled from the kick off and conceded a line out from which a rolling maul led to Jordan Buller crashing over in the corner.

The next quarter of an hour’s play was even, but then Lewis Plece, James Collings and Kyran Devitt combined well to run the ball from defence only for it to be seized upon by Sodbury player Lewis who dashed over to level the scores.

Albion regained the lead following a good move involving Collings and Plece, which saw Taylor Buller pulled up just short of the line before he got the ball out to Harrison Cornish who dived over for a try which Devitt converted.

The visitors extended their lead on 35 minutes when Alex Knight made good ground before spinning the ball out to Jordan Buller who ran in for his second try which Devitt added the extras to.

Albion maintained the pressure and just before the break Devitt seized on a clearance and raced through from 35 metres to score a try which he then converted making it 26-5 at half time.

The opening exchanges after the break were even but on 10 minutes the Albion forwards swooped on a loose ball before Alex Hannah sprinted over the line to score a try which Devitt converted.

The visitors were well in control by this stage of the game and a neat chip forward by Harrison Cornish was picked up by Plece who sent Josh Frost in for a try which Harrison Greenslade converted.

Shortly afterwards Devitt gathered the ball and chipped ahead before regaining possession and going over for his second which Greenslade converted.

Albion's final try came five minutes from time when a run by skipper Taylor Buller resulted in Gavin Knight scoring a try which Greenslade converted.

Just before the final whistle Chipping Sodbury rounded things off when Keeping gathered a loose ball and ran into score which Bennett converted making it 54-12 to Bridgwater and Albion.

Albion are without a game this weekend.
