BRIDGWATER & Albion RFC got their pre-season campaign underway at the weekend in a friendly match away against Wellington Chiefs.

There was a large crowd of 200-plus in attendance to watch some top quality rugby played by both sides.

Ultimately Bridgwater won the match after a second half comeback, 19-17.

The Chiefs dominated play in the first half, producing some excellent rugby and using the wind, they were able to break down the Albion defence.

After the opening forty minutes, Wellington had built a 17pts to nil lead and at the break looked as though the team likely to hold that lead.

However, the second period saw a complete change of fortunes with Bridgwater dominating proceedings.

The visitors ran in 19 unanswered points to take the spoils and local bragging rights, for now.

For Albion, the match would have answered some questions for the coaching staff and given them more of an idea of the best lineup going into the season opener.

They open their campaign in the Counties 1 Tribute Western North division on Saturday, September 2 at home against Nailsea & Backwell RFC.
