Wiveliscombe Second XV 15-29 Bridgwater and Albion Second XV

SHAUN Mahoney scored four tries in this impressive victory at Wiveliscombe which made it four wins from their last five matches for Bridgwater and Albion Seconds who continue their climb up the table.

Throughout the game the Bridgwater pack dominated proceedings, which skipper Mahoney took full advantage of while the Wiveliscombe backs ran well when they got the ball.

The visitors were in control from the start and early on in proceedings Rory Hobbs ran almost 40 metres, but his surge was repelled by the hosts who then very much against the run of play scored an unconverted try to take the lead.

Bridgwater replied strongly and after 10 minutes their pack drove to the Wivey 22 from where Mahoney burst over to score his first try and level the scores. Seven minutes later Bridgwater took the lead when the skipper scored his second.

On 25 minutes the visitors extended their lead when following a good run by Mike Saunders, Hobbs went over for a try which Tom Armstrong converted making the score 17-5 to Bridgwater at the interval.

Five minutes after the re-start Bridgwater drove deep into Homs territory and Mahoney went over for his third, and hat-trick try of the afternoon.

The home side were far from done however and kept looking to attack and in the 55th minute the Wiveliscombe winger seized on a loose ball and scored a try, to bring the score to 22-10.

There was no keeping action man Mahoney away from the proceedings and shortly afterwards he raced in over 60m metres to score his fourth try which Armstrong converted.

With the game drawing to a close Wiveliscombe scored the final try making the final score 29-15 to the visitors.
