NORTH Petherton were without a game in South West 1 West at the weekend, so they go into 2018 in 10th spot, with 26 points from their 13 games.

Their first game of the New Year is at home to league leaders Exeter University on January 6.

IN the Tribute Somerset leagues, Bridgwater & Albion 2nds drew the curtain on a difficult end to the year with a 40-10 at Old Redcliffians 2nds on Saturday.

Marooned at the bottom of the Somerset 1 table with one win from 13 games, they go to third-placed Avon on January 6.

In Somerset 1, Morganians suffered a 65-24 defeat away to table-topping Bristol Barbarians last Saturday.

North Petherton 2nds, meanwhile, were awarded a home walkover against Bath Old Edwardians.

The end of the year sees Morgs in fifth place, with six wins and six defeats from 12 games, and 35 points.

Pethy are in ninth spot, with five wins and seven losses, giving them 25 points.

On January 6, Morgs have another tough game, at home to second-placed Bristol Harlequins, while Pethy are set to travel to bottom side Wyvern, who have an unfortunate habit of being unable to raise a team for fixtures.

Finally, in Somerset 2 South, Bridgwater & Albion 3rd XV stretched the gap between themselves and the bottom two, by beating the team directly below them, Martock, 35-8.

That away victory moves them on to 12 points from 13 games (three victories and 10 defeats).

They begin 2018 with a home game against Weston-super-Mare 4ths, who are currently fourth.
