South West 1 West
North Petherton 28, Okehampton 26

NORTH Petherton pulled off a remarkable second-half comeback to defeat Okehampton on Saturday.

Trailing 26-6 at the break, with only two Harry Roberts penalties to their name, Pethy roared out the traps after the break and swiftly reduced the deficit.

Carl Brown went over before Arron Gibbs scored twice to edge Pethy in front, though Okehampton had a chance to snatch victory with a penalty at the death.

The kick hit the post, however, and the hosts could celebrate a fine win.

Somerset 1
Old Sulians 36, Morganians 30

A MUCH-CHANGED Morganians side ventured to the hills above Bath to play Old Sulians on Saturday.

Morgs were first on the scoresheet when Gavin Hancock raced the length of the pitch to touch down, with Jordan Mein converting.

Sulians hit back instantly as the home pack bundled over, but Morgs were then awarded a penalty in front of the posts, and Mein slotted over.

The visitors then conceded a number of penalties, and one of them allowed Sulians to break down the left and score to go ahead.

A penalty and a try extended the lead, but Morgs responded when Ryan Rossiter galloped in from halfway.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first, and Sulians soon scored again to make it 29-17.

Morgs didn’t give in and Matty Winter flew down the left wing to score, and Mein missed his conversion but added a penalty to make it 29-25.

The hosts looked to have taken the game out of reach with another converted try but, in the last play, Olly McGeown found space on the right to score and earn two bonus points.

On Saturday, Morgs – seventh in the table – hope to host bottom side Clevedon 2nds, though their opponents have already forfeited four matches.

Morganians: Pierce, Luke, Court, Singleton, Cooper, Mills, Armstrong, Hopkins; McGeown, Mien, Walpole, Bullion, Stafford, Rossiter, Hancock. Subs: James, Winter, Mears.
