MORGANIANS host North Petherton 2nd XV on Saturday knowing that a win or a draw will see them lift the Somerset Two South title.

They extended their lead at the top of the table despite not playing last weekend by virtue of North Petherton’s loss away at Chard on Friday night.

Those lost points mean Morganians effectively have a lead of 23 points over their local rivals and only need another three from their final five fixtures to secure the title.

Morganians go into the match looking to continue their 100% record in what has been a remarkable season for the club, who have won all 19 of their league fixtures and racked up 921 points in the process.

Their attacking prowess has seen them pick up try bonus points - awarded for scoring four tries in a match - in all but one of their league matches.

They were given a stern test by Burnham-on-Sea in their last outing but managed to come away with a hard-fought 26-12 victory.

A bumper crowd is expected on Saturday for what is likely to be a tough but entertaining game and another great advert for local rugby.

Morganians are also hosting a reunion day for all ex-players with the bar and a pig roast available all afternoon.
