SOMERSET go into their next two T20 games, both of which are at home, knowing that if they fail to claim maximum points from both their chances of qualifying for the next stage look very slim.

As it is, they need to start winning on the road to add to their unbeaten home record so far, and their next two games are against sides that they have already lost to this campaign.

First up is Gloucestershire this evening at Taunton and, when the two sides met in Bristol earlier, it was the hosts who triumphed in the final over. Kent follow next Thursday evening at home, another side who Somerset don’t have a great deal of T20 success against, after which they trade to play Surrey on Friday.

Looking forward to tonight's big game, Somerset’s cricket boss Matt Maynard said: “A game with Gloucestershire is always a tough one and we will have another sell-out crowd behind us when we play them.

“Last time we just missed out, so you can be sure all the boys will be up for getting their revenge back at our own headquarters where we are unbeaten in T20 this season.

“At this stage of the competition we need to keep on winning our home games but must now start winning on the road if we are to get through to the last four in our group.

“We have had some great individual performances away from home but, as a team, we maybe haven’t performed quite as well, which is something we will be looking to do when we go to The Oval next week.”

Following their game with the Gloucesters, Somerset return to red ball cricket when they host Pakistan in the three-day fixture that starts at the Cooper Associates County Ground on Sunday.

Looking forward to the game, Maynard said: “A game against an international side is always one of the highlights of the season for any player and we will be approaching this game just like any other red ball match.”
