Kilve 160-3 beat Castle Cary 159 by seven wickets

JAY Darrell put in a superb all-round performance to mpower Kilve to a seven wicket victory over Castle Cary on Saturday.

Darrell took 2-18 to help bowl Cary out for just 159, ably supported by Stone (4-48) - before striking an unbeaten 68 to see his side over the finish line.

Penwell struck first, finding the outside edge of J. Elsworth's bat, with Chris James taking the pouch at gully.

Darrell's line was superb and he produced a textbook yorker on the stroke of drinks to account for his second wicket.

Penwell picked up his second, before Darrell was replaced by Gary Stone and he was on the money from ball one.

He struck in his second over, Elsworth looking to give him the charge and was stumped well short of his ground for 10 by veteran keeper Ed Martin.

Stone grabbed a further three wickets before the returning Darrell yorked Leach for one to round off the innings.

The Kilve chase started with openers Pete Stone and Darrell walking to the crease - and Stone fell without scoring cutting Lake straight to point.

Ed Martin looked to steady the ship, but he also went cheaply, playing on off the bowling of Hunt for just 2.

Payne joined Darrell at the crease, and together the pair rebuilt the innings.

Darrell was in excellent touch, anything short and wide was given the treatment.

His array of shotmaking was exceptional and he hit the winning runs to finish unbeaten on 68.
