Bridgwater Saturn 40, Harlequins 25

SATURN secured another home win on Saturday against Harlequins thanks to a strong team effort throughout.

In attack, the new shooting duo of Sammy Kemmish (GS) and Imogen Setter (GA) showed signs of a great partnership with some clever movement in the circle.

Good positioning around the circle from Hazel Hucker (WA) and Karis Holleron (C) enabled Saturn’s attack to play the ball around until the right shot was on.

In defence, tight marking and reading the opposition's passes lead to many interceptions turning the possession back to Saturn.

Michelle Stone (WD), Sally Haysham (GD) and Julie McClean (GK) battled to the end to keep Harlequins away from the goal.

Neptune 42, Rubies 29

NEPTUNE found it difficult to settle in the first quarter, with passes going astray throughout the court.

However, accurate shooting from joint player of the match, Katie Cheese, and Lianne Fothergill, ensured Neptune nosed ahead at 11-8.

The second quarter saw Neptune demonstrate simple but effective court play and more accurate passing into the circle by WA, Dawn Fothergill, helped Neptune increase their lead to 23-13.

Neptune’s defence worked solidly throughout the game, with Emma Downes, joint player of the match, reading the game well and putting pressure on Rubies’ shooters.

With great support from WD, Annia Holleran, turning defence into attack, Neptune led 33-19 at the end of the third period.

In the final quarter, Rubies raised their game but Neptune held strong to take a 42-29 win.

Mars 29, Minstrels 44

MARS fell to defeat against Minstrels on Saturday having trailed their opponents throughout.

Lily Rowland (C) made excellent interceptions and made great feeds in to the circle – Hana Middleton (GD) stretched for each ball and kept an eye on her player.

At half time, Mars were 26 -11 down but after this went out fighting, with Kayleigh Haste going on as GK to held her space and stand strong.

Shooters Morganne Dunn and Sophie Cornish were both in fine shooting form, but the final score was 29-44.
