Bridgwater & Albion Colts 19, North Petherton Colts 8

BRIDGWATER & Albion Colts took the bragging rights in Saturday's local derby with North Petherton.

Albion opened the scoring on ten minutes through number eight Ollie McGeown from the back of a ten meter scrummage.

The extras were added by fly-half Luke Payne who slotted an impressive conversion from wide. Bridgwater added a further try after 20 minutes from a two phase driving maul, prop Brett Shaw was driven over in the corner.

Another excellent touchline conversion from Luke Payne made the score 14 - 0.

Shortly before half time, the home side scored a third through winger Joe Keane, who got himself on the end of McGeown's neat offload.

The second period started with North Petherton's first points of the afternoon, courtesy of a penalty. Ben Coombes then scored their first try following a swift counter attack, as Pethy looked to force their way back into the game. Bridgwater Colts next match is away at Clevedon on Saturday January 25, While North Petherton Colts entertain Minehead at Beggars Brook on Saturday January 18 in the Somerset Cup.
