BRIDGWATER College welcomed the first cohort of Yeo Valley Engineering Apprentices to an induction day at the college’s Energy Skills Centre.

The six apprentices are the first recruits on a long-term apprenticeship programme being implemented by Yeo Valley.

They will be based at five different sites and will attend Bridgwater College one day a week to study the theory aspects of their qualification.

The apprenticeship opportunity was initially made available to existing Yeo Valley staff members only, and over 40 applied.

Next year external applicants will also be able to apply.

Matt Tudor, head of business development at Bridgwater College, said: “The college has been working with Yeo Valley for several years on the development and delivery of a specialist dairy science programme as well as wider business and management training.

“We are delighted to have launched the Engineering Apprenticeship programme, which will form the basis of Yeo Valley’s recruitment pipeline for years to come. This is an excellent opportunity and we look forward to supporting the apprentices though their programme.”
