Still producing the goods at Sydenham
THE number of entries may have been down, but the standard certainly was not – that was the verdict from organisers of the Sydenham and Bower Flower Show.
The event was held at the Sydenham Community Centre over two days.
Bridgwater Mayor and Mayoress Graham and Kay Granter opened the show and presented prizes.
Show chairman Pat Davey thanked Mr and Mrs Granter, Sydenham Community Centre manager Barry Searle and all the volunteers for their help towards this year’s show.
She added: “The standard of exhibits was very high, despite the poor growing conditions, and the children’s section always seems to amaze us with the inventiveness of the entries.”
This year, a new trophy was presented in memory of Mr and Mrs Cliff Chant.
Mr Chant, who died in March, was a prominent supporter of the show over a number of years.
