POLDEN HILLS Young Farmers have won a prestigious cup for the fifth year running.

The group scooped prizes across the board at the Somerset Young Farmers Club County Rally, winning them the Over 30 Member's Shield and the Overall County Rally Cup.

All members competed in the entries they had entered for, determined to keep the title of overall rally champions having won the cup four years running.

Club member Sarah Champion said: “Competition was tough as many groups wanted to defeat us. Every member of the club worked very hard to achieve the overall cup.”

Harry Porter, Alice Hooper, Sarah Champion and Grace Whitcombe picked up points and rosettes for the calf show.

Will Hooper won the County Pig Stock Judging Cup and boys and girls from the club came second in the Tug of War.

Sarah Champion won the County Junior Handicrafts Cup, Eve Hooper won the Intermediate County Handicrafts Cup jointly with another member and Emma Champion won the County Senior Handicraft Cup, winning the team the overall cup.

On June 30, from 8pm, the group hosts a Summer Sizzler with SNAPPA playing at North Brook Farm, Catcott. Entry is £8 before 10pm, £10 after. Money will be donated to Canine Partners and Parkinson UK. Call 07815-985-737 or 07917-043-370.
