Thanks to the hard work of the greens staff at Enmore Park Golf Club, the Centenary Trophy took place. At the end of it, Martin Innalls, with 41 points, was the winner, one ahead of second-placed Dave Tudge, with Ben Kingston third with 38.

In the Pro Shop Stableford on Sunday, Shane Owens, with 38 points, was the clear winner. Two players returned with 35 points, but after a countback, Neil Whisler was second, just ahead of Dan Spencer.

April 17th saw the start of the competitive season for the Ladies' Section, with 41 ladies competing for the 18-hole Jubilee Bowl and eight for the 9-hole Glen Trophy. The cold and windy conditions were challenging, but the course was beautifully presented, and the greens were in excellent condition.

Chris Lewis won the 18-hole Jubilee Bowl with 30 points, Wendy Walker won Division One, and Jenny Hawkins won Division Two. Fiona Ryan won the 9-hole Glen Trophy with 15 points.

The Women's Interleague match at Mendip was played in challenging conditions, including heavy hailstorm showers. Three teams went to the 17th hole, but eventually, Enmore lost 6 and 1. The two sides will meet again in a fortnight.

The Enmore Ladies enjoyed a friendly match at Cannington, where the weather was perfect and the sun stayed out all day. The first Enmore pairing put up a great fight, but the home duo won the match. The second pairing managed to hold on to their lead, and with one hole to go, they were three up, winning this match. The third pairing drew, which meant Enmore lost 2-1.

Lorraine Taylor, Ladies Captain Elect, said, “ We all enjoyed our lunch with Cannington Ladies; the atmosphere was friendly and fun".

In their opening match in the Avalon League, the Enmore team beat the Isle of Wedmore 4 and 1, gaining 14 points. Avalon League team captain Ben Kingston and Dan Anderson took their match to the 14th hole, finishing with a glorious two-putt from Dan to win.

Despite the forecast, the home match between Enmore Seniors and Wells went ahead on what proved to be a blustery but mostly dry day. Both teams really enjoyed the match, and it was all square going down to the last pair. Unfortunately for Enmore, Wells was victorious in the final pair, winning the match 3.5 to 2.5 overall.

The winning pairs for Enmore were Steve Howell with Keith Norcutt and Jeff Saunders with John Newell. Tim Smith made a creditable half with Mike Taylor—special thanks to Martin Smith for coming into the team as a late replacement.

The Seniors also recently hosted East Devon, which resulted in a 3-3 draw. The winning pairs were Steve Wilcox with Jess Lawrence, Kev Lewis with Peter Scott, and Chris Willsteed with Tim Smith.
