RESIDENTS in Woolavington have expressed their concerns over a potential 125 home plan for the village.

More than a dozen residents attended the Woolavington Parish Council meeting last night (Tuesday, May 8) after it emerged Gladman Developments submitted a 'screening opinion' application for a 125 home development on land off Cossington Lane.

Chairman of Woolavington Parish Council, Cllr Alan Sharp, made it clear that because at this stage this was just a request in regards to whether an environmental survey should be carried out and not a formal application, the council was unable to comment but could listen to residents' concerns.

The gathered members of public raised a variety of points relating to traffic, overdevelopment and infrastructure.

One resident said: "I do not think this is feasible - Woolavington cannot cope with this number of houses.

"We already have traffic issues at the top of Cossington Lane."

Another said: "It feels like we are being steamrollered."

Southfield Close resident Doris Marsh said: "They want two or three storey homes which will be overlooking the nearby bungalows and change the Woolavington skyline.

"Cossington Lane will become a bottleneck. There is no way it can support that much extra traffic."

Fellow resident Chrissie Cottle added: "There is nowhere for them to widen the road.

"It strikes me as total greed, I do not think they have the best interests of the community at heart."
