WESTONZOYLAND Primary School has plenty to celebrate after landing a Good rating in its latest Ofsted report.

An inspector recently visited the school, speaking to children and staff, and recognised the progress the school has made.

Delighted headteacher Alison Garbett said: "We were very pleased that so much of the progress that we have achieved as a school was recognised, particularly after such a period of disruption last year.

"I feel that the report accurately reflects the huge team effort that we have put in to make our school the best it can be."

The inspector was particularly impressed with the improvements being made in writing at the school, as well as improved outcomes for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.

In a letter to parents Mrs Garbett said: "I would love to take this opportunity to give a huge thank you to my amazing staff and Governors.

"We have a wonderful school here: I often describe the school to visitors as a big family.

"I would also like to give a personal thanks to all the parents who sent in their comments via the Parent View or the text service. These were generally very positive and helped the Inspector to gain a deeper perspective on what we are doing.

"Finally I would like to thank the children for being their normal charming, polite and hard-working selves."
