The organisers of Bridgwater's popular female-only gym C&S Fitness decided they wanted to do something charitable to kick off the New Year and have opted for an endurance testing 24 hour Fitness Bootcamp.

The ladies will be put through their paces by Simon Evans and his partner Charlie Lewis, completing reps in teams, in a format known as 'every minute on the minute'.

It is estimated the 18 women, who will be divided into teams of three, will complete 288,000m on the rowing machine, 28,800 slam balls and 14,400 burpees.

Charlie says the ladies will not be leaving the facility for the full 24 hours and will both exhausted and sleep-deprived.

However Simon adds that St Margaret's Hospice is a charity is close to the hearts of many of those taking part and their families.

Mr Evans said: "We are very excited about this event and will be issuing flyers, banners, and sponsorship forms. We hope people will come down and support our lovely ladies on the day and cheer them on."

St Margaret’s Hospice cared for over 3,800 people last year which is free to the patient and their families. After a small amount of NHS funding the organisation needs to raise £9.5m each year to keep delivering its services.

Terena Young, the local community fundraiser said: “Here at St Margaret’s we are delighted that the ladies of C&S Fitness have chosen to support their local hospice.

"This is a massive challenge and I imagine that the ladies are going to be exhausted and will have to draw on all of their energy reserves to get through the darker hours of the challenge. We’re incredibly grateful for all of their efforts and money they’ve raised.

"Please pop down to C&S fitness gym on Saturday, January 27 to show support and make a donation for their amazing efforts."
