A BRIDGWATER family have been so successful in raising funds for a vital piece of medical equipment, they managed purchase two machines.

Sue Depledge and family recently presented a Cough Assist Machine to Dawn Bayford, the newly appointed Respiratory Nurse at the Walnut Tree Hotel, North Petherton.

The machine was one of two bought in memory of Sue’s late husband, Pete.

Pete, who lived and worked in Bridgwater, had Motor Neurone disease and unfortunately died without access to a Cough Assist machine as there were none available at Musgrove Park hospital when he needed one.

The family did not want anyone else to suffer in this way and were determined to do all they could to raise funds to buy a machine. They were so successful in their efforts that, with a little help from the local South and West Somerset branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, two machines were purchased.

Mrs Depledge said: “I’m delighted that one of the machines is already on loan to a patient who is benefiting from this. I would like to say a big thank you our supporters.”
