WALLACE Stuart Lady Funeral Directors from North Petherton have reason to celebrate after sweeping the award boards in the National Good Funeral Awards 2016.

Lel Wallace and Sarah Stuart travelled up to London's Polchester Hall for the glittering awards luncheon which saw almost 300 National Funeral Directors compete for the sought after titles. The awards were presented by GMTV Penny Smith and will be televised later on in the year.

The ladies were proud to walk away with second place as 'Modern Funeral Director Of The Year 2016', out of 600 other nominees, their nomination having been strengthened by The British Army for their care towards the family of a much loved local fallen soldier.

They also walked away with Highly Commended in the 'Low Cost Funeral Provider Of The Year' and Highly Commended for the award of 'Traditional Funeral Director Of The Year'.

The Good Funeral Guide pioneering leader, Charles Cowling said: “The awards are entered by literally hundreds of funeral directors across the UK and the judges have to be incredibly stringent in their choices – these ladies are the only FD's who have for the last four years have walked away with award after award – six in total - do not underestimate just what this means – they are a formidable force in the local funeral industry and Somerset should be very proud to have them”.

Lel Wallace said: “We cannot thank our local families enough for taking the time to nominate us. We are passionate about the funeral industry and are humbled to carry out each and every funeral”.
