We’re never satisfied are we? As a nation we are never happier than when we are moaning about something. We aren’t even terribly bothered about the subject either as we seem to have an opinion on just about everything from the weather to politics to sport, music and, it seems, everything in between. I even heard a young person bemoaning the fact that the Olympics are on the telly “at a really stupid time. Why put them on at a time when we’re in bed”. You just couldn’t make it up could you.

Onto radio bits for this week, and Charlie is away all this week so Jordan has stepped up to look after the show. Mark will be off shortly too and while he’s away Robyn Humphreys will be sitting for him. If you’ve not come across Robyn before, she has popped up on my show, and is a bright and bubbly addition to the team. Talking of people popping up on my show in the next couple of weeks I’ll be catching up with Chris de Burgh and also Frank Allen from the Searchers.

Finally, the answer to last week’s teaser: In the 18th century attempts were made to launch a new industry in the town but it failed to take off. What was it? A glass industry. This week’s teaser is this, in what year did the Admiral Blake museum first open? No cheating, I’ll give you the answer in next week’s column. Have a great week.
