POLICE say they are investigating an assault on a young girl in a Bridgwater supermarket.
A woman allegedly grabbed the girl by her clothes as she was standing near the entrance of Asda during the Easter Break.
The girl, who was out shopping with her mother and sister, screamed which prompted the lady, who was dressed in black, to immediately let go and leave the store.
The incident left the young girl extremely shaken and with a scratch on her neck. The head teacher of Westonzoyland School, where the girl is a pupil, has issued a letter warning parents of the incident.
Police say they are they are treating the incident as a common assault and battery and the investigation is ongoing.
A police spokesperson said: “We are treating this as an isolated incident. It has been reported to us and we are following all lines of inquiries. We are also supporting the family.”
