MORE than 400 runners braved tough conditions to complete the third annual Bridgwater Half Marathon
on Sunday. The event, organised by the Bridgwater and District Friends of Cancer Research UK and
Ramblers Carnival Club, started and ended at the Morganians Rugby Club in Chedzoy Lane, and also
featured a 5k fun run.
Race director, Gavin Roberts, said: “The run was really successful and we’re very pleased with how it
went.
“We had record numbers running this year, with just over 400 competing in the half marathon and
another 120 running the 5K Fun Run and it couldn’t have gone better.
“The heat fought us a little bit but everyone seemed to have a good day.”
Kevin Squibb of the Tiverton Harriers recorded the fastest time of 1:15:49 with second place going to
Jodie Bee and Robert Sage coming third.
Alison McEwing of Erme Valley Harriers was the fastest female, finishing th race in 1:24:18.
