Float catches fire during North Petherton Carnival

A CART caught fire during North Petherton’s Carnival last night, causing delays to the procession.

Firefighters were called to the scene at about 10pm and police officers on patrol cleared the roads to help them pass through.

A Carnival Committee member said he believed it was Gemini Carnival Club’s Colosseum and that it was only a small fire.

North Petherton Carnival President Eileen Brunton said: “The fire held the procession up because nobody could go through until it was all cleared.”
