OFFICIALS at Bridgwater Carnival donated more than £20,000 to dozens of good causes in the town.

The money was raised by Carnival members in 2012/13 and grants handed out included £3,582 to Bridgwater Rotary Club and £1,275 to Robert Blake Science College.

In addition, almost £5,000 was raised for local good causes by a special Christmas-themed carnival cart.

Carnival spokesman Dave Stokes said: “Helping local charities and organisations is an integral part of carnival.

“In the last three years Bridgwater Carnival-related activities have raised over £50,000 for local good causes.”
