A COUPLE who died following this horrific crash on one of Somerset's busiest A-roads have today been named.
Paul Hobday, 60, and his partner Christine Edney, 69, from Canvey Island, Essex, died following a collision on the A303 near Ilminster last Thursday morning.
Mr Hobday and Ms Edney had been travelling in a car which was in collision with a van on a stretch of the road which is dualled in one direction only.
A motorist in the van was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries while another person sustained minor injuries.
Following the crash, renewed calls forimproved safety on the road have been made by members of the community.
Yeovil MP David Laws said: “I will ask the Highways Agency for a report to see how dangerous this part of the A303 is compared with the dualled stretches of the road.”
