A TOTAL of 60 children at St John & St Francis Primary School performed the musical Kittens – an adaptation of Cats.

The Year Five pupils took part in an adaptation of the stage show by Andrew Lloyd Webber as part of their curriculum work.

The show, enjoyed by parents and staff, was deemed a success.

It was produced by class teachers Neil Thompsonn, Lorna Innalls and music teacher Nicola Plumb, with help from staff members.

At the same time the girls’ choir Singing Souls have just received the news that after attending the Region Music for Youth Festival at Wellington School.

The group were chosen to attend the National Festival at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

They will have the chance to perform on the main stages, get some useful feedback from the music mentors and listen to and meet other young musicians from across the UK.

Music teacher Ms Plumb said: “I was very surprised to receive the letter. This is a fantastic opportunity to attend this prestigious event both to represent talent from Bridgwater and to represent St John and St Francis School."
