Bridgwater historian Roger Evans sent in these photos of the Irene, the last ship built in Bridgwater, which nearly came to a disastrous end this week.
The 100ft long ketch was taking part in the Tall Ships Race when it ran aground off the island of Arran, off the west coast of Ireland on Wednesday.
Ten people were on board when the boat became stuck in Lamlash Bay on its way to port at Greenock.
However, the Irene did not suffer any damage and was refloated in the early hours of the following morning.
The Irene is set to continue the race on Tuesday, when along with 60 other ships, she will set sail for the Shetlands, then on to Norway, and finally finish in Halmstad in Sweden.
Mr Evans told the Mercury the Irene was launched in 1907 from Carvey's Yard on East Quay, where Bridgwater bus station now is.
