THERE were several success stories for Haygrove School students who represented Sedgemoor at the County Championships in Yeovil.
Jack Rockey and Luke Reynolds each bagged a first and second place. Jack was crowned county champion in the 200 metres, but his outstanding result was achieving the National Entry Standard time in the 80-metre hurdles, in an exciting race which saw him pipped into second by just eight thousandths of a second.
However, the result ensured his selection for the Somerset team at the National Championships.
Luke was crowned county champion in the triple jump, clearing over 11 metres to convincingly beat his opposition; he also came a close second in the 100 metres.
Luke also competed at the South-West Championships where, after a disappointing 100-metre race, he recorded a personal best in the triple jump.
Haygrove also congratulated its other athletes who represented Sedgemoor at the county games: Amy Knight (100-metre finalist), Becky Villis and Hannah Churchill (hurdles finalists), Georgie Youe (300-metre finalist), Kyle Gibbs Hartley (200-metre finalist) and Josh Smith (3rd place discus).
