A HOST of television stars and sporting aces are turning out for a fundraising football match near Burnham on Sunday.

The star-studded celebrity football match will take place at Pawlett Pavilion in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Big names include Gaizka Mendieta, who once broke the football transfer world record, Middlesbrough favourites Craig Hignett and Curtis Fleming, Big Brother stars Ziggy Lichman and Anthony Hutton, and soap actors Danny Miller and Elliot Tittensor.

The Weekly News reported last week that former Middlesbrough and Burnley goalkeeper Marlon Beresford and Norwich City favourite Darren Huckerby would also be among the well-known names turning out.

The event has been organised by Tony Cartwright, who is hoping to raise £12,000 for the charities.

Tony was inspired to fundraise after his sister Tracey Browne, of West Huntspill, overcame breast cancer only for it to return.

Gates open at 10.30am and tickets are available from Pawlett Pavilion on 01278-685225.
