NORTH Petherton residents were evacuated today after a fire broke out at a farm.
Six fire engines were called to the site in Moorland at 12.45pm, where a workshop was well alight.
The area was cordoned off because of a highly explosive acetylene cylinder in the property, with people in the surrounding area moved out.
Firefighters tackled the fire with water jets, but had to wait until after 3pm for the cylinder to cool before the area was deemed safe.
Police were also called out to manage traffic in the area.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “We don’t know what caused the fire and there will be an ongoing investigation.”
