A BRIDGWATER man is running a marathon this Sunday for his nieces and nephews who have a life-threatening disease.

Timmy Hoban, 30, is taking part in the Brighton Marathon to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and to raise awareness of the condition.

Timmy’s sister Charlotte Head has four children, three of whom - daughters Saskia, 11, Tia Rose, four, and son Gareth, ten, require round the clock care. Only Charlotte's other daughter, Jodi, is not affected.

Timmy said: “Other family members previously did a walk from John O’Groats to Lands End and I thought it was about time I did something for the children.

“I hope to raise awareness of the disease and it’s a personal challenge as well.”

The youngsters have to undergo daily physio sessions to prevent mucus building up on their lungs and have to take a daily cocktail of different medicines.

Charlotte, from Woolavington, said: “I’m very proud of Tim doing this for cystic fibrosis. The money raised for the trust will help aid research and hopefully one day find a cure for the disease.

“My three children are in and out of hospital a lot and it’s quite hard work. But they’re my children and I would do anything for them.”
